I can't believe I've only been away from Sydney for a week...feels like a few months. I decided yesterday, totally randomly, to go down to Melbourne for the Formula 1 Grand Prix next weekend. As a Finn I kind of couldn't skip that one...just bought my ticket and all I'm saying is that if the Finnish drivers don't perform well I'll be claiming the money back from them. So now I'm in Sydney until Wednesday, then catching Greyhound overnight to Melbourne where I should arrive at 8 on Thursday morning.

I'm staying at Wake Up! which apparently is the best hostel in Oceania. Yeah, sure. Well, it does look more like a hotel than a hostel and it is right next to the train/bus station which is a good thing. My backpack is killing me and I can't understand how it's so heavy when I haven't bought anything damn it!! I'm considering maybe buying another small bag, to get the weight of the backpack down. They seem pretty strict about the 20kg limit on buses and trains here and I think my bag is over that. Bummer. I'm in talks about a possible job as well, on a farm situated between Melbourne and Canberra. It sounds pretty good, so we'll see.

I know I was supposed to write stuff about what we did on the farm course but I'm too tired...anyone who's interested, check out www.leconfield.com. I think they have the itinerary etc. in there.

Are you coming down with some other people??

Where is the bus dropping you off? In the city? I was going to say I could pick you up at the airport if you were flying in, since it's miles out of the city, but greyhound will probably drop you right in town.

Greyhound arrives at Southern Cross station, and Fi's dad is picking me up.

Haha. That's how I feel about Sydney. Nice to visit, but I couldn't live there.

Where do you live? Next time you're in Melbourne, you should check out Brunswick Street. Cool area..

Brunswick Street as in Fitzroy. Kind of alternative. Lots of good restaurants, etc.

Where in the country are you from?

I didn't watch the killing of the sheep, but they butchered it right next to our living quarters so I couldn't escape that. It wasn't that horrible once it was dead but judging by the horror stories of the people who did watch them slash its throat, I made the right decision not to watch that. Ugh.
The natural horsemanship principles at times sounded really good, but a few times I also thought they were complete bullshit (usually when I couldn't get my horse to do what I asked LOL).

Whoo hoo! Melbourne! Am extremely jealous and wish I could be there right now.

Have you planned to do other things while in Melbourne?

I'm only here until Monday so I don't have much time to do anything but tomorrow I'm going sightseeing with alyssa22 and doing something with muldy on Saturday.
